Connecting Customers to Contractors

Materials Manufacturing Plant
Machinery Installation

Challenge:

One of our customer solutions advisors was contacted by the plant manager of a materials manufacturing plant. A production line motor had failed and a new one was being delivered the next day, and he needed the installation completed immediately to avoid downtime. Adding to the challenge, none of our partners were not on their approved contractor list at that point in time. The manager understood that this was a quick-turn job on a Saturday and was not going to be easy to source - so he came to us.

Solution:

We spoke to several of our partners and we found a contractor willing to do the work. They valued the opportunity to connect with a new facility and wanted a chance to get their foot in the door. We made the introduction, and workers were on-site when the new motor arrived Saturday afternoon. By that evening, the motor had been replaced and the customer was back up and running.

Conclusion:

The plant manager was very happy with the quick results, and with the contractor’s skills and professionalism. Since this first project together, the customer and the contractor have formed a strong relationship. When there is an urgent project or emergency maintenance, they call their go-to horse.

Alloy Manufacturing Facility
Supplemental Labor & Repair

Challenge:

Our customer solutions advisor received a call from the plant manager from a metal alloy manufacturer. He had a warped I-beam in a cooling bath that his in-house maintenance team could no longer manage with temporary fixes. His team didn’t have the proper skills, and this was cutting production in half and needed to be remedied fast.

Solution:

Our advisor set up a meeting for the next day to listen and evaluate the project needs. We tapped into our network of partner contractors and connected them with one who had the right skills and experience for the situation. That same day, the contractor was on the job site and provided a bid to the customer, and the very next day they were back with workers to repair the I-beam. But upon starting, they found out the replacement that the customer provided was the wrong size and unusable. A simple repair job quickly turned more complicated. The contractor had the skills to improvise and craft a solution using the existing beam and some additional supports, no big deal.

Conclusion: Despite the curveball, the project was completed under budget and quickly. The plant manager was very happy with the results, and was impressed with the speed and quality of the contractor and the job performed.

City Mayor & Chamber of Commerce
Turnkey Solution

Challenge:

We were introduced to the mayor of a city in Ohio through the local chamber of commerce. He and his head of economic growth had a multitude of projects that they needed help with, and needed a partner who could connect them with the right contractors. Over the course of several years, their ContractorLink advisor was a free resource to the city, aiding them in finding contractors of all types with workers from all trades. So when it came time for the mayor to begin delivering on his 10 year vision, which included new housing developments and a new industrial park, he reached out to his ContractorLink advisor for a turnkey solution.

Solution:

Our advisor had the right connections and knew immediately who was the right fit from our network of qualified contractors. He connected the mayor to a contractor who we had a particularly strong relationship with. They had all of the necessary skilled workers and expertise, and were also a developer as well — a perfect turnkey partner. This led to several meetings between the mayor, ContractorLink, and the contractor/developer, ending in a deal that resulted in streamlined and more efficient projects and successful outcomes.

Conclusion:

Due to the strong relationships that our ContractorLink advisor had with both the city and with our network, we were able to provide a great contractor despite the complicated needs of the project. These relationships aren’t built overnight, they come from listening and understanding the needs and goals of our customers and our contractors, as well as having a record of delivering successful outcomes. We developed trust and confidence over many years with both parties involved here, and ultimately were prepared to make the right introduction in a time of need.
